Lockheed Martin Answers Obama’s Call To Action

BETHESDA, Md., 01/26/2011 --

In response to President Obama's State of the Union call to win the future, Lockheed Martin [NYSE:LMT] today announced its strong support for his plan to "compete for the jobs and industries of our time" by out-innovating, out-educating, and out-building the rest of the world.

Lockheed Martin invests heavily in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education programs. In 2010 alone, the Corporation spent more than $12 million on K-12 and higher education programs and scholarships. Lockheed Martin employees also volunteered nearly 200,000 hours in education-related activities. Overall, Lockheed Martin delivered standards-based, STEM-related curriculum to 3.5 million students through direct classroom engagement of its employees and strategic education partnerships with NASA, National Geographic, and the National Science Foundation.
