Lockheed Martin Receives Vehicle-Mounted Sensor Systems Contract for Italian Army
ORLANDO, Fla., June 14, 2012 – Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] received a contract from SELEX Galileo for Gyrocam® 15-inch Triple Sensor (15TS) systems for the Italian Army. This is Lockheed Martin’s second international Gyrocam15TS contract.
The Gyrocam 15TS will be installed on International MaxxPro® Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles used by the Italian Army in coalition operations. The Gyrocam 15TS can be mast-mounted on virtually any land vehicle for remote surveillance needs, providing high-resolution color, night vision and thermal sensors in a gyro-stabilized gimbal. “Our rapid production capabilities and in-theater installations will provide the Italian Army with enhanced situational awareness and an advanced capability to detect, identify and track threats from safe stand-off distances,” said Jay Pitman, director and general manager in Lockheed Martin’s Gyrocam Systems business. “Our industry leading maintenance and training support organization is focused on supporting the mission-critical requirements of our customers.”
Under the contract, the vehicle-mounted sensor systems will be produced at Lockheed Martin’s Gyrocam Systems facility in Sarasota, Fla., and will be delivered and installed on MaxxPro MRAP vehicles in Afghanistan.
