Lockheed Martin Sponsors Conference on Cyber Security, Big Data and Complex Systems of Healthcare

DULLES, Va., Nov. 14, 2012 – Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] and Missouri University of Science and Technology are sponsoring a conference this week to highlight the important role of advanced technologies in healthcare, cybersecurity, big data, machine learning, and energy efficiency. The Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) conference runs Nov. 14-16 at the Washington Dulles Airport Marriott in Virginia.

Lockheed Martin joins leading technologists and academic experts at the CAS conference to discuss the complexity and future of information technology (IT) as it pertains to next generation solutions.

Haden Land, vice president of engineering and chief technology officer for Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions-Civil product line, will deliver the conference’s banquet keynote address. Land will speak to CAS technology’s ever-growing presence in our lives, the possibilities it offers for improving our world and the need to prepare the future work force to manage it.

"Complex adaptive systems are meaningful solutions that address issues of national and global importance," Land said. "The concepts employed by these systems will enhance our understanding of the world, control our aircraft, direct our power supply and improve our health."

Additional Lockheed Martin participants at the conference are Health & Life Sciences Vice President Glenn Kurowski, Vice President of Cyber Security Solutions Charles Croom and Vice President of Enterprise Solutions Chad Fulgham. The conference features representatives from 14 nations and 20 thought leaders who will present 75 advanced research papers.

Lockheed Martin is investing in the study of emerging advanced IT concepts, including big data analysis, advanced machine learning, and new methodologies for smart grid management. These concepts will help shape future solutions to the most complex problems that businesses and governments will face.
