Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR)

amdr-ship-460x300

AMDR is an advanced solid-state radar suite for Naval Surface Combatants consisting of a Digital Beamforming (DBF) S-Band radar (AMDR-S), an X-Band solid-state radar (AMDR-X) and a Radar Suite Controller (RSC). AMDR will be installed on the U.S. Navy’s future Flight III DDG 51 Class Destroyers.

Under a 24-month Technology Development (TD) Phase contract, Lockheed Martin is maturing its scalable, low-cost AMDR-S and RSC solution, which will enhance the U.S. Navy’s capability against advanced anti-ship and ballistic missile threats.

Lockheed Martin's AMDR-S solution will enable significantly improved simultaneous multi-mission operations in stressing environments, balanced with affordable lifecycle costs. The Lockheed Martin team is developing an open-architecture and modular design matured through significant corporate and U.S. Navy investment.

A leader in S-band radar development and production, Lockheed Martin has more than 40 years of experience in the design, integration, production, and sustainment of naval radars for surface combatants. The company’s SPY-1 family of radars – with proven anti-air warfare and ballistic missile defense multi-mission capability – is fielded on nearly 100 surface combatants worldwide.
