The Only International 5th Generation Fighter
The F-35 is already contributing to the Canadian economy – it is a partnership for progress.
Canada is evaluating fighter aircraft alternatives, including the F-35A, to replace its CF-18 aircraft and provide the Royal Canadian Air Force with the aircraft needed to respond to current and future threats. The F-35 is highly interoperable and functions as the node on the information grid; it has the ability to integrate into existing systems, allowing Canada to continue its role as a valued partner and contributor to global security. It is the next generation strike fighter — bringing cutting edge technologies to the skies. Advanced logistics, avionics, propulsion systems, stealth and firepower will ensure that the F-35 is the most affordable, supportable and survivable aircraft ever to be used by so many warfighters across the globe.
Industrial Participation
The program is a trusted partner to Canadian industry. Canada's participation and investment in the Joint Strike Fighter Program began in 2002 as a means to provide Canadian industries opportunities to participate in the development of 5th Generation aerospace technologies. If Canada selects the F-35, benefits to Canadian aerospace and defence companies will far exceed Canada's investment; projected industrial profits are estimated at nearly $10 billion. To date the program indentified nearly 200 projects with more than US$319 million already contracted. The F-35 will continue to bring manufacturing and production opportunities to Canada and keep the Canadian economy and technology industry globally competitive.
