To meet today’s growing challenges of monitoring the skies and protecting borders and coastlines, Lockheed Martin’s array of long-range radar systems are setting the industry standard for ground-based air surveillance. The TPS-59, TPS-77 and FPS-117 family of radars are high-performing, reliable, solid state systems specializing in early warning, situational awareness, and ballistic and tactical missile surveillance and defense. A 30-year track record of multi-mission capability makes the radars the most capable and highly regarded long-range systems in production today.
TPS-59—Proven in live fire tests, it is the world’s most capable long-range radar for tactical ballistic missile detection, tracking and classification.
FPS-117—Dual-use air traffic monitoring/air defense solution and proven in more locations around the world than any other radar in its class.
TPS-77—The transportable version of the FPS-117, the radar can be configured for C-130, C-17, truck, rail or helicopter transport.
Using solid-state electronics and operating in the L-band frequency, these radars deliver unsurpassed performance in environments as diverse as Arctic Ocean shores and arid deserts. L-band frequency helps our systems perform exceptionally well in rain or harsh weather conditions where radars operating in higher frequency bands can be virtually blind. Our pencil beam architecture allows the parameters of each beam to be tailored to its environment—greatly reducing the effects of terrain and weather clutter.
The full range of system features can be tailored to meet each customer’s unique needs. Operators can remotely monitor and maintain systems that are thousands of miles away, reducing both operating costs and manpower requirements. And every radar is backed by a strong support network with a number of available service and logistical options.
Lockheed Martin ground-based air surveillance radars are the choice of more than 30 nations on six continents. Today, 177 Lockheed Martin long-range systems operate around the world—more than all other competitive radars combined.
