Engineers in the Classroom
Identify. Develop. Inspire.
Lockheed Martin’s Engineers in the Classroom (EITC) education outreach initiative is designed to identify, develop and inspire students toward entering careers that have their foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses. Engineers in the Classroom supports a wide-range of best-practice programs that contain STEM content that aligns with local, state or national standards of learning. Through EITC’s portfolio of programs, events and campaigns, Lockheed Martin is reaching students and educators at various levels of engagement – large audience awareness, small group participation and one-on-one interaction. With sustained community involvement through school, corporate and industry partnerships; consistent employee/student/teacher engagement; and support for scalable, high-impact partnerships, Engineers in the Classroom provides Lockheed Martin employees with strategic opportunities to inspire tomorrow’s engineers and technologists.
The nation’s looming tech talent shortfall will have an impact far beyond any single firm or sector. Science and engineering aren’t just crucial for national security; they’re critical for economic growth. High-tech industry leaders like Lockheed Martin drive innovation, boosting development and productivity, and generate employment opportunities. If the U.S. intends to remain the world’s technological leader, we have to act today, inspiring more young people to thrive in advanced-tech careers. Industry has an important role to play in building the workforce pipeline – and the classroom is the place to begin.

“We must inspire today’s young people to believe that if they become our future engineers, they can engineer our future.”
