The World’s Most Advanced Combat System
With 50 years of constant evolution and innovation, Lockheed Martin has a trusted history of producing, integrating, and delivering radars and combat systems. Lockheed Martin and the Aegis Combat System continue to keep pace with evolving integrated air and missile threats, introducing new capabilities to create the latest generation of advanced solid state technologies, integrated with the Aegis system, to provide world-class defense and ensure future safety and security.

Versatile and Vitality
The Aegis Common Source Library (CSL) enables customers to rapidly integrate new capabilities and processes across the fleet in a “build once, use many times” framework. Aegis CSL can be used across a variety of platforms, ranging from multiple classes and types of ships to land-based systems. Through the open architecture design of the Aegis CSL, a system upgrade or new integration made for one Aegis vessel, can be leveraged across the entire fleet and around the world.
Aegis CSL enhances life cycle affordability by reducing costs for integration, test and certification.
Commonality is key. It allows far greater interoperability across the fleet, further reducing training costs and improving flexibility in crew assignments.
Fleet modernization
By design, the Aegis Combat System has evolved in order to pace new and emerging threats.
The Aegis Modernization program effectively extends the life of in-service Aegis ships as they age. Two modernization programs – for both cruisers and destroyers – are currently in place that will improve warfighting capabilities, extend hull service life, and reduce total ownership cost through the fielding of Open Architecture and commercial computing technologies.
Ship Integration and Test
Building the world’s most advanced combat system is only the first step.
Lockheed Martin’s Aegis Ship Integration & Test (SI&T) team delivers both planned upgrades and engineered innovations to make ships more capable and survivable. In tandem with SI&T, Lockheed Martin also provides engineering services including design, development, integration, test and life cycle support for all Aegis-equipped ships through the Combat System Engineering Agent (CSEA) contract, which was re-awarded to Lockheed Martin in 2013.
