In 2021 we remained steadfast in our customer-focused mission to revolutionize the future battlespace by engineering advanced networked capabilities.

This year we made progress applying commercial, advanced technologies to accelerate and increase deterrence capabilities for aerospace and defense, and link highly capable national security platforms together.

There’s no better example than our 5G.MILTM solutions.

Our recent collaborations with Radisys, Verizon and Keysight Technologies are significant enablers for furthering the U.S. Department of Defense’s new warfighting concepts and align with Chairman, President and CEO James Taiclet’s vision for the future battlespace. Learn more about our 5G.MIL capabilities.

Through continued acceleration of payments to our supply chain partners, with a focus on small and vulnerable businesses, we reaffirmed our support of the broader defense industrial base amid the continuing effects of COVID-19. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have accelerated payments to more than 12,800 suppliers, including more than 8,000 small businesses across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 49 nations. Learn about state-level economic impact, including jobs, supplier investment and more.

The health and safety of our 114,000 employees remained a top priority. Partnering with state and local governments, we’ve hosted more than 50 vaccination clinics at Lockheed Martin sites across the country.

The Lucy spacecraft is on a first-of-its-kind mission to Jupiter’s elusive Trojan Asteroids. Scientists believe these asteroids are some of the oldest remnants from the formation of our solar system 4.5 billion years ago. What mysteries will Lucy uncover? Time will tell as the spacecraft will visit eight asteroids over 12 years and take the first-ever close-up images of them.
Meet Lucy
In 2021, Finland and Switzerland joined the community of allied nations with an F-35 program. Advancing capabilities and transforming the way air forces conduct operations, the F-35 is the most advanced, survivable and connected fighter aircraft in the world, giving pilots an advantage against any adversary and enabling them to execute their mission and come home safe.
Our integrated air and missile defense systems provide unmatched capabilities to meet the demands of the future battlespace. During a recent, successful flight test series, two PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancements (MSE) intercepted a tactical ballistic missile threat. We also celebrated the 600th Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptor delivery in August, marking a significant milestone in the program.

The DEFIANT X flight test program continues to expand the flight envelope and reach new speeds. Recently our tech demonstrator achieved 247 knots of true airspeed, in straight and level flight. That’s fast. It’s one of the reasons why DEFIANT X is the best solution for the U.S. Army’s mission today.
