Cyber Corner: Cyber Academy Workshops

March 2020 --

As you are likely aware, cybersecurity attacks continue to increase in frequency and sophistication for the Aerospace and Defense industry. It is imperative small businesses understand what’s at stake and recognize their shared role in protecting sensitive information. Therefore, Lockheed Martin is in its second year of hosting face-to-face cybersecurity workshops to be held across the country in what is called the “LM Supply Chain Cybersecurity Academy”. Targeted trainees include Lockheed Martin current small business subcontractors, particularly those identified with weaker cybersecurity posture.

Each training session is led by a Lockheed Martin cybersecurity professional, lasting approximately three (3) hours in duration. Focus areas of training include areas such as the following:

  • Legislation and policy including DFARS 252,204-7012, NIST SP 800-171
  • Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
  • Safeguarding covered defense information
  • Cyber incident reporting
  • Best practices and other key areas

Dates and locations still to be offered in 2020 are as follows, but some more may be added:

  • May 20 - Huntsville, AL
  • June 10 - Chelmsford, MA
  • July 30 - Detroit, MI
  • August 5 - Littleton, CO
  • September 28 - Garden City, NY

Lockheed Martin works with and sets expectations for all of our suppliers to protect sensitive information that we are entrusted with by our customers. The LM Supply Chain Cybersecurity Academy is a step to mitigate supply chain risk in the area of cybersecurity.
