Record number of Lockheed Martin volunteers complete Orlando VA project

F-35 Training Gains Altitude

More than 1,500 Lockheed Martin employees, family members and friends revitalized the facility grounds at the Orlando VA Medical Center’s Lake Baldwin Outpatient Clinic as part of the company’s annual Day of Caring in October 2016. The record-setting number of Lockheed Martin volunteers completed more than 80 projects throughout the day.

Volunteers worked together to build an outdoor kitchen, create a walking trail with fitness stations, restore the main entrance, remodel the conference center, design and build a half-court basketball court, landscape, pressure wash, paint and more.

The “Extreme Makeover – VA Edition” garnered the attention of local media channels, WKMG CBS 6 and WOFL FOX 35.

Lockheed Martin also presented a $5,000 check to the VA Center.

Others working with the Lockheed Martin team to revitalize the Orlando VA Center were the Cub Scouts, United Dairy Farmers, students from UCF, Unifirst, Orlando Fire Department, Maitland FBI, Mission Continues, nurses from Florida Hospital, and partners Home Depot and Heart of Florida United Way.
