Sniper ATP: Awards

Sniper ATP

Since Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) was first produced, it has been continuously recognized for its outstanding performance. Awards given by the U.S. government and industry stakeholders demonstrate that Sniper ATP isn’t just any pod – it’s a pod that sets standards in management, capability, production and sustainment.

Secretary of Defense Performance-Based Logistics Award

The Office of the Secretary of Defense awarded the Lockheed Martin and U.S. Air Force Sniper ATP team the 2014 Performance-Based Logistics (PBL) Award, which recognizes outstanding achievements in providing operational support to warfighters. The team received the subsystem PBL award, which is one of three PBL awards presented annually to government/industry teams. Team members included individuals from the Precision Attack System Program Office at Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex and Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, who together provide critical support for Sniper ATPs worldwide.

Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award

In 2012, the U.S. Department of Commerce chose Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control as a recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for performance excellence and quality achievement. Sniper ATP is produced in Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s prestigious Fire Control factory.

Perry Precision Strike Award

In 2010, the Precision Strike Association awarded the Lockheed Martin and U.S. Air Force Sniper ATP team its annual William J. Perry Award. The award is presented to programs that strengthen the country's national security by applying precision strike capability to U.S. Department of Defense systems. Sniper ATP was selected based on its significant impact in combat operations by reducing aircrew workload, enhancing warfighters' situational awareness and shortening the timeline to engage enemy insurgents while helping avoid fratricide and preventing harm to the civilian population.

Aviation Week Program Excellence Finalist

In 2009, Sniper ATP’s laptop-controlled B-1 program was recognized as a sub-system research and development finalist by Aviation Week. Each year, Aviation Week recognizes programs that excel based on value creation, adapting to complexity, and organizational processes and metrics.

Aviation Week Laurels Award

In 2004, Sniper ATP was recognized as an honoree at Aviation Week and Space Technology’s Annual Laurels Selection competition for its lasting contributions to the advancement of aerospace.

Other Awards

Sniper ATP has previously been recognized by BAE Systems with its “Bronze Chairman’s Award” and by Boeing with its “Silver Eagle Award.” Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, who produces Sniper ATP, was also recognized by Industry Week as one of the 2007 “Best Plants.”
