Commercial Launch Services

As the exclusive provider of commercial Atlas rockets in the world – with 117 consecutive successful launches and counting – Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services provides the commercial industry access to one of the most reliable launch vehicles in the world.

Since debuting in 1957, the Atlas family of launch vehicles has logged nearly 600 flights and is the only launch system in the world with a continuous first flight mission success history. Atlas V, the latest generation of the program, is the worthy successor to the 100% successful Atlas II and III programs.

Applying state-of-the-art designs, materials and processes, the Atlas V launch vehicles, including the 400 Series and 500 Series, offer our customers maximum flexibility, capability and reliability.

Atlas is manufactured by United Launch Alliance, a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and The Boeing Company, formed in December 2006.

Our Athena series of vehicles draw from over 50 years of strategic missile technologies to provide complete mission flexibility specializing in ride shares or small satellite constellations.

Lockheed Martin Corporation and Alliant Techsystems (ATK) are teamed to launch modernized Athena rockets.  For small to medium payloads, the flight-proven family of Athena I and II launch vehicles provide reliable affordable launch to a wide range of orbits.

The Athena payload lift capability supports NASA, the Department of Defense and commercial mission requirements.  Athena can boost payloads ranging from 280 kg (615 lbs) to up to 5,900 kg (13,000 lbs) from launch sites at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. and Kodiak Launch Complex in Alaska.
