Years at Lockheed Martin: 8 years
What is your current position? Facilities Office Planner
What are your day-to-day responsibilities? I am responsible for gathering statement of work and requirements from program and functional programs so that we can successfully execute their facilities projects (this includes both office space planning as well as facilities planning for new prod ops equipment on the manufacturing floor)
Can you tell us about your journey?
“During my freshman year of college, my career plans were suddenly in jeopardy when I found out I was expecting at 19. While my fellow freshmen were busy gaining their freshman 15, I was trying to figure out how I would balance motherhood and three more years of college. This little human and I would figure it out together.
What gave me the courage to make this choice was the support system I had around me. Without the support of my family and friends, this moment in my life could have easily been a career ending one instead of an opportunity to learn. I take this mindset into the workplace today where I believe we should give young leaders a safe place to make mistakes and empower them to use experiences as teachable moments that will grow them into better leaders in the future.
Today that little human is a smart and beautiful 11-year-old who wants to work for Lockheed Martin like her mama!”
