Life @ LM: Meet Sean
For Sean, a recent college grad from Chicago, finding a community both at work and at home was an important part of starting his new role at Lockheed Martin in Orlando.
So when the procurement rep saw a Facebook post from another entry-level employee looking for roommates, he jumped on the opportunity to make friends with similar interests.
“My roommates and I spend a lot of time together,” Sean said. “We try and golf every other week. We try and go on trips, whether it’s going to the beach or visiting another city. Having Fridays off gives us the opportunity to do the things we want to do.”
Sean and his roommates, John, a mechanical design engineer, and Matthew, a sustainment engineer, have built a schedule to balance working with life outside of work – managing it all from their kitchen table while they spend time telecommuting.
“We manage to make working from home enjoyable and productive. Whether it’s grabbing a cup of coffee in the morning or eating our lunches together, it always makes the day a little better,” he said. “And it’s great having roommates who also work the same schedule to have fun outside of work.”
Sean also nods to the relationships he’s built on his team and within his department as key success in his role.
“My favorite part about my job is the amount of people I work with,” Sean said. “Since starting last January, I’ve developed relationships to grow my career. I’m working with a mentor that will help me progress down a path of success.”
“The people I work with are my best resource,” he added.
Do you want to be able to grow and learn new skills in a career like Sean’s? If so, a career at Lockheed Martin might be for you.
