Designing the Future, Engineering Sustainable Solutions & Historic Flight Tests

12 Achievements from the Second Quarter of 2022

1. Supporting Global Security

In May, President Biden visited our facility in Troy, Alabama, where we build Javelin anti-tank missiles that are vital to helping Ukraine fight off Russia’s invasion.

2. Providing Unrivaled Airpower

We delivered the 800th F-35 and reached half a million flight hours.

3. Innovating for the Big Screen

Our Skunk Works® team answered Hollywood’s calls and created a conceptual hypersonic aircraft for Top Gun: Maverick.

4. Revolutionizing Hypersonic Technologies

And while Darkstar may be fictional, its capabilities are real. We recently completed a successful hypersonic flight test on ARRW, a defense system designed for the U.S. Air Force.

5. Test Driving Tomorrow

At a large-scale military exercise in the Pacific, we provided a glimpse into the future of Joint All-Domain Operations, an integrated approach where systems operate together across land, sea, air, space and cyber.

6. Quieting the Sonic Boom

The X-59 experimental aircraft, designed to reduce loud sonic booms for NASA, progressed closer to its first supersonic flight over land.

7. Power On!

The Orion spacecraft that will carry astronauts back to the moon in 2024 turned on its computers for the first time allowing the team to test critical crew modules that are considered the ‘brain’ and ‘heart’ of the spacecraft.

8. Lunar Mobility Innovation

We partnered with GM and MDA to equip our lunar rover design with a robotic arm that will enable more scientific research on the Moon.
