In partnership with the BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference, we’re honoring the brightest Black scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematics professionals at Lockheed Martin.
Our nation’s technological advantage depends on building a pipeline of talented Americans from all backgrounds. It’s these diverse perspectives that help us solve our customers’ toughest challenges.
For 36 years, we’ve worked with BEYA to expand hope and opportunity for thousands of Black innovators at every stage of their science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers.
Terry, a Lockheed Martin engineer, was a student attendee at BEYA in 2018.
“I heard about the conference through teachers and friends in college. I remember attending one of the presentations which got me thinking about graduation and what I would do next,” says Terry. “Right after that, a friend tapped me on the shoulder and introduced me to an engineering director at Lockheed Martin. It was the first time I talked to a professional in the industry. I had a formal interview with her the next day! Since the day I stepped foot inside our office, I’ve seen and been in contact with so many other African American professionals. It makes me feel very welcomed."
Demetria (above) is also an engineer at Lockheed Martin, and BEYA provided her the ability to network with senior leaders. She’s now a leader herself.
“Industry leaders that attend BEYA are able to cultivate the next generation of STEM professionals. The conference has provided great exposure for me personally and has allowed leaders at Lockheed Martin to learn about what I bring to the table,” says Demetria.
BEYA is not the only way we show our unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion. Lockheed Martin also consistently recruits students from historically Black colleges and universities, many who have gone on to make vital contributions to our mission.
We’re honored that so many Black innovators and STEM professionals choose Lockheed Martin. Together, we can change the world.
