Good evening, and thank you very much [Mario Lopez] for that kind introduction.
I’m honored to be here tonight celebrating such an exceptional group of scientists and engineers.
Lockheed Martin is a founding sponsor of HENAAC, and we are very proud of our long partnership with Great Minds in STEM. We support this organization because we’ve found that by bringing together people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, we can drive industry-leading innovation that leads to real business results.
And as you saw in the video, innovation is at the core of everything we do at Lockheed Martin. We are a company focused on solving the world’s most complex challenges—challenges like global security, sustainable energy and deep-space exploration.
The young people we inspire today will have the chance to be the scientists and engineers who solve these exciting challenges in the decades ahead. However, as a nation we face a critical shortage of STEM talent. Great Minds in STEM is working to address this challenge and inspire the next generation by recognizing excellence in STEM achievement.
And that is why we are here tonight—to honor the accomplishments of the greatest minds in science, technology, engineering and math, and to applaud their contributions.
Congratulations to each of our outstanding honorees.
You are an inspiration to us all, and we are delighted to celebrate with you this evening.
Thank you.
