The Advanced Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Program (AMTAP) is a United States Department of Labor (USDOL) Registered Apprenticeship. The AMTAP program will teach you how to build space flight hardware by providing a phased approach to learning with both classroom and hands-on learning opportunities at our LM Space facility in Courtland, AL.


No Experience, No problem! This program will teach you everything you need to be successful.

The educators in AMTAP were fantastic. They were eager to share their knowledge and had a drive to see you succeed.
Hands on
A lot of the things that I went through was things that I never experienced in life: having people to care about you, knowing your superiors want you to succeed and making sure that they’re going to provide you every opportunity for you to succeed

Successful candidates demonstrate the following abilities:

  • Great hand and eye coordination
  • Manual dexterity skills
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions
  • Works well in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Interested in continuously learning and adapting to ongoing industry changes
  • Ability to perform precision work

$15/hr. plus benefits while in the 6-week classroom portion of the apprenticeship program.

$18.50/hr. upon offer of full-time employment.

When Can I Start?


AMTAP has cohorts starting at various times throughout the year at our sites in Colorado, Alabama, and Pennsylvania. Each location's program differs so be sure to read the FAQ sheets for each location’s specifics. Program dates and applications deadlines are featured on each location's site. Check back often for program updates, application dates and links, and links to attend one of our virtual informational sessions where you can learn in more details about the program, the application process and have your questions answered.
