When Janet joined Lockheed Martin's Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP), she expected to learn the ropes of production and management. What she didn't expect was how quickly one value would rise above the rest: quality.

That commitment to quality became the compass guiding every decision she made, from her early days on the shop floor in Denver, Colorado, to her current leadership role in Owego, New York.

Leading With Purpose

Today, Janet serves as a receiving inspection supervisor, leading a team of seven inspectors responsible for evaluating materials and components as they arrive. Her work ensures Lockheed Martin programs receive only the highest-quality materials, keeping production lines moving and mission deadlines on track.

Her favorite part of the job? Tackling complex Inspection Lots, or "ILots." Each ILot comes with its own unique issue causing it to age, which means Janet collaborates across teams and customers to move inspections forward. Every challenge is a new puzzle to solve.

Janet also works closely with vendors to resolve non-conformances, helping to drive accountability and improve outcomes from the ground up. Whether she's guiding her team through day-to-day operations or jumping into special assignments that improve processes across the Quality organization, Janet brings the same mindset OLDP helped her develop: lead with clarity, solve with intention and never compromise on standards.

Celebrating World Quality Month, Every Day

November marks World Quality Month, a time to recognize the vital role quality plays in delivering on Lockheed Martin's mission. For Janet, however, quality isn't just a month-long focus. It's embedded in the fabric of how she leads.

She sees quality not as a checklist, but as a culture that empowers every employee to be their best. It's how teams show up for one another, how products meet the highest standards and how Lockheed Martin maintains its reputation for trusted, mission-critical innovation.

Built to Lead, Built to Deliver

Janet's experience in the Operations Leadership Development Program (OLDP) was pivotal to her career. The rotational program exposed her to multiple functions, mentors, and operational environments, sharpening both her technical and leadership skills.

OLDP taught me that leadership isn't about having all the answers, it's about asking the right questions and lifting others up.
Lockheed Martin's investment in leadership development isn't just about building better managers. It's about building the best, people who lead with integrity, prioritize quality and push innovation forward in support of global security.

Where the Best Are Built

Janet's journey reflects what makes Lockheed Martin a place where the best are built. From early career programs like OLDP to the everyday leadership shown on the inspection floor, she is part of a culture that believes in doing things right the first time, every time.

As everyone celebrates World Quality Month, Lockheed Martin employees like Janet are reminded that quality is in our DNA.
