Can you tell us about your career at Lockheed Martin?
“I love sports. Soccer is my favorite, but football is a close second. Liverpool Football Club is by far my favorite sports team, but I also rep red and gold in my San Francisco 49ers fandom. Growing up in Arkansas where there aren’t any professional sports teams, you get the option of picking who you want to root for, as opposed to it being assigned or expected. Most end up cheering for the Cowboys or Saints because of proximity, but for me Jerry Rice was it. Both the Arkansas Razorback table and the Liverpool plaque are custom. I programmed lasers at a former job, so when I had free time I’d work on fun projects like these. Looking back, I should have thought the table through a little more. It’s made from 6-millimeter steel and has sharp points — it’s a razorback; go figure — so it’s not the easiest thing in the world to move around. I also exercise my love of sports in the workplace.
We have an ultimate Frisbee group that has met after hours once a week for the last decade. We’re spread out in different buildings and programs, so from a professional standpoint it has been a good avenue to meet people I otherwise wouldn’t have. Having groups here that play ultimate, basketball, soccer, and go on camping or skydiving trips together reaffirms the sense of community that Camden Operations has. I think the site as a whole has an outstanding culture, and that is predicated on employees sincerely caring about the people they work with and the community they work in.”
