Can you tell us about your career at Lockheed Martin?
I remember my Mum and Dad being really proud of me when I secured my Technical Apprenticeship with Lockheed Martin (Hunting Engineering back then). My Apprenticeship has underpinned my entire career. Working for Lockheed Martin is varied, challenging and brilliant. Although a Mechanical Engineer by trade, I have had the opportunity to undertake all aspects of engineering; from system requirements, through to design, and into test and verification; taking on many roles and responsibilities along the way.
Working for an organisation like Lockheed Martin, which supports and encourages the progression of its people, has been highly rewarding. Several years ago, I made the transition to Functional Management, becoming Head of Design Engineering. My first challenge was to recreate the Technical Apprenticeship scheme for Lockheed Martin Ampthill, giving individuals the opportunity to experience all I had been able to undertake – this became one of the highlights of my career. I’m really proud of the Early Careers that are progressing through our organisation; our Apprentices, Graduates and Interns really do add value to the business.
I am also proud of the fact that each and every day we are making a difference to our customers, with the focus on delivering innovative game-changing solutions to the highest of standards; this underpins our customer commitment of “Your Mission is Ours”.
Do you want to be able to grow and learn new skills? If so, a career at Lockheed Martin might be for you.
