AI Fight Club™: Revolutionizing AI Development for National Security

This is where the AI Fight Club™ comes in. The Lockheed Martin AI Center (LAIC) recently hosted our inaugural AI Fight Club event, a groundbreaking initiative that brings together industry collaborators and our business areas to develop and test AI capabilities in a joint all-domain operations synthetic environment.
During the event, Lockheed Martin collaborated with teams from Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI) and ATG to execute a series of virtual 4 vs. 4 aerial mission scenarios. Five unique AI agent teams engaged each other in real-time battles as the audience observed. Through data capture and deep analyses, the AI Fight Club team was able to thoroughly evaluate how each team performed as they would have in the real world. Within our Cogniverse™— the synthetic environment that enables the AI Fight Club proving ground — we tested these AI agents and systems in a highly realistic and dynamic environment, simulating the complexity of tactical air combat.
This type of simulated testing is necessary for advancing AI development at scale. In just one month of testing alone, our Skunk Works® AI Fight Club team and others ran the equivalent of 114 years' worth of tests, which would have cost more than $540T and expended 18M aircraft. This level of large-scale testing is impossible in the real world, but the AI Fight Club synthetic environment makes it possible: we are preparing our AI agents and systems for reality without being limited by the real world.
The data gathered from these simulations is critical in developing AI solutions that can enhance speed, accuracy and decision-making for military operations. The AI Fight Club initiative has the potential to transform the way defense organizations approach AI, enabling the creation of more sophisticated and effective AI solutions.
