Lockheed Martin has been awarded the FY26 contract for GMLRS rocket production, supporting the U.S. Army’s continued modernization of long-range precision fires and its efforts to expand and sustain munitions readiness.

This $3 billion award enables continued production and delivery of standard and extended-range GMLRS rounds. Lockheed Martin continues to invest in expanding manufacturing capacity, supply chain resilience and production efficiency to support America’s Arsenal of Freedom.

Supporting U.S. Army Requirements

GMLRS is a cornerstone of the U.S. Army’s deterrent capability and provides accurate, responsive and reliable effects to the warfighter.

This production contract reflects sustained demand for the system and underscores the importance of scaling industrial capacity to meet Army requirements for readiness, training and stockpile replenishment.

“Meeting the Army’s demand for precision fires requires speed and disciplined execution across the industrial base,” said David Griser, vice president, Lockheed Martin Precision Fires Rockets. “This award allows us to continue increased production while preserving the quality and reliability expected of the GMLRS system.”

Expanding Production

Work under the contract will support continued GMLRS production across Lockheed Martin’s manufacturing network, focusing on maximizing and accelerating output.

Key areas of investment across the portfolio include:

  • Expansion of final assembly and integration capacity

  • Increased automation across inspection and test operations

  • Supplier-base expansion and qualification for critical components

  • Workforce growth and technical skills development

  • Modernization of tooling, production systems and digital manufacturing capabilities

These initiatives are designed to improve throughput, reduce lead times and sustain high-rate production.

Strengthening the Defense Industrial Base

The FY26 award aligns with broader Department of War priorities to reinforce the defense industrial base and ensure rapid production and replenishment of critical munitions.

Lockheed Martin continues to invest in long-term capacity and supply-chain resilience across all production lines. These investments enhance production stability and support rapid response to evolving Army requirements.

Commitment to Delivery

Lockheed Martin remains focused on delivering GMLRS on schedule and at scale in support of Army readiness objectives.

“As demand for precision fires continues, our priority is to deliver capability at the pace required by the warfighter,” said Griser. “We are committed to leveraging our expanded capacity, strengthening our supplier network and ensuring consistent execution across the program.”

Lockheed Martin continues to work closely with the U.S. Army to meet production requirements to support the warfighter in the moments it matters most.
