A Global System: Meeting HIMARS Demand with Unwavering Dedication
Achieving High Output with Unmatched Precision
In April, the U.S. Army announced a $1.1 billion award to Lockheed Martin for additional HIMARS launchers.
The award covers both domestic and international orders, sustaining U.S. readiness while empowering allies with a common, interoperable fire platform.
“Every HIMARS launcher we deliver must meet the same rigorous performance, reliability and integration standards for the Army and allied forces,” said Carolyn Orzechowski, vice president, Lockheed Martin Precision Fires Launchers and Missiles. “Our expanded production capacity allows us to increase volume without compromising the precision that our customers depend on.”

Proven on the Modern Battlefield
Across operational theaters, HIMARS has repeatedly demonstrated its value as a precision strike capability where speed and accuracy are inseparably linked. The system is built to move quickly, processing targeting data and turning it into a precise strike in a matter of seconds.
Because it can be loaded onto a C-130 Hercules aircraft, systems can be flown to any theater and be operational in minutes, giving commanders agility to respond wherever the fight moves. This speed and rock-solid reliability make HIMARS a key asset of today’s networked, fast-changing battles, confirming that long-range, accurate fire is essential to modern warfare.
Looking Ahead
While the new contract expands the HIMARS launcher fleet, Lockheed Martin is simultaneously investing in next-generation munitions – extended-range rockets, multi-effect warheads and smart guided payloads – that will stretch the system’s reach and lethality as threats evolve. With that technology pipeline in place, HIMARS is poised to remain a cornerstone of modern force design, meeting persistent demand driven by hard-won operational lessons and the requirement for interoperable, high impact fire.
“Precision, speed and partnership are the three pillars defining today’s most effective defense capabilities,” Orzechowski noted. “With this award, we’re delivering more launchers, preserving the highest standards and deepening the collaborative relationships that make HIMARS a trusted asset for customer and allies.”
Bottom Line
The new $1.1 billion HIMARS contract is more than just a procurement. By delivering at scale without compromising precision, Lockheed Martin is ensuring that HIMARS will continue to shape the future of artillery, provide a decisive edge to coalition forces and uphold the promise of rapid, accurate firepower wherever it is needed.
