Armed Forces Bowl

It's Go Time!

About one quarter of domestic Lockheed Martin employees are military veterans, or are currently serving. We understand the significant contributions and sacrifices our armed forces personnel make to ensure global and national security. Sponsoring the Armed Forces Bowl is an important way that Lockheed Martin celebrates patriotism and recognizes the efforts of servicemen and women from all five branches of the military.

While 2014 was the first year Lockheed Martin was the title sponsor of the Armed Forces Bowl, we have been involved for years with the game and other initiatives that support the armed forces. Our Missiles and Fire Control business became a sponsor of the Armed Forces Bowl event in its early years. Later, our Aeronautics business joined in, expanding our public recognition of the military and veteran community.

While most other bowl games are focused primarily on the game itself and the schools competing, the Armed Forces Bowl is committed to honoring and recognizing active-duty service members, wounded warriors, veterans and their families. Throughout the game, the Great American Patriot Award will be given, wounded warriors will be honored, and donations to military charities will be presented. The game is also broadcast through the Armed Forces Network to ensure that all service members can watch – no matter where they are stationed around the world.

Fighting Spirit

Through the Fighting Spirit Scholarship Program, Lockheed Martin provides wounded veterans the opportunity to participate in life-enrichment programs at Warrior Sailing, Able Flight and Adaptive Training Foundation.

These organizations provide training for disabled veterans to fly and sail, and regain confidence lost on the battlefield. The program gives veterans the opportunity to showcase their enduring fighting spirit in the presence of their families, colleagues and a grateful nation.

This year, Lockheed Martin named 1st Lt. Victor Prato, retired Army Chief Warrant Officer Anthony Radetic, and retired Sgt. 1st Class Randy Nantz as the 2018 Lockheed Martin Fighting Spirit Scholarship awardees.
