What is the Next-Generation Short-Range Interceptor?
The Next-Generation Short-Range Interceptor (NGSRI) program is a U.S. Army program aimed at developing an advanced short-range air defense missile system to replace the Stinger missile. Our mission is to provide a highly effective and reliable interceptor capability to protect our warfighters and assets from existing and emerging aerial threats.
The Lockheed Martin NGSRI was developed to stay ahead of evolving aerial threats, providing the warfighter the most advanced and capable short-range man portable air defense system in the world. The program is focused on rapidly fielding this highly effective and reliable interceptor capability that can operate in the extreme environments in which the threats exist.
The NGSRI program is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army, industry partners, and other government agencies.
NGSRI System Overview
The NGSRI system is designed to provide a highly effective and reliable short-range air defense capability. The system features:
- Advanced Detection Technology: Utilizing advanced optics technology to detect and track targets
- High-Speed Interceptor: Capable of engaging targets at high speeds and ranges
- Network-Centric Architecture: Enabling seamless integration with other air defense systems and networks
