For the past couple of years serving on Lockheed Martin's board of directors, I've seen first-hand much of the incredible work across this corporation providing the tools for a strong national defense and advancing scientific progress. So when I was asked to become president and CEO, it was a call-to-service that I had to answer. - Jim Taiclet, President and CEO
"It’s about doing something important for the frontline men and women that have to defend us. They deserve the best equipment, the highest technology, something better than our adversaries are going to have. I joined Lockheed Martin because I am committed to doing that.”
From military pilot to successful CEO
Jim Taiclet remembers well his first impressions of Lockheed Martin. As a young U.S. Air Force pilot, he flew the C-141B Starlifter, logging more than 5,000 flying hours in the aircraft.
