Lockheed Martin Canada was excited to sponsor the First Annual Pepper Pod Gala held at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa this year. While celebrating the exponential growth of the non-profit, Pepper Pod, the event raised funds in support of programs for women moving away from service careers with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) or Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Transitioning from active-duty CAF or RMCP member to Veteran status can be a challenging mission. The Pepper Pod is a place for women facing the unique realities of civilian life to build a network of support. At the centre, women discover a shared cultural experience that creates space for mutual understanding and healing.

The Pepper Pod relies on the support of companies like Lockheed Martin Canada to deliver multiple transition-related Lifeshop retreats where veterans participate in a series of personal growth and healing exercises. Psychological neuro-linguistic programming tools are used to tap into limiting beliefs and help identify stress triggers and patterns. The programs are not therapy, but an opportunity to connect with others through a shared culture and background, develop profound friendships, and discover resources – essentially teaching participants how to lean on each another through challenging transitions – a true Pepper Pod experience.
