As an employer that actively seeks out and supports veterans, Lockheed Martin is committed to providing the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive in their careers after military service. We honour veterans not just on Remembrance Day but every day, integrating their skills, values, and leadership into our workplace culture.

To mark this Remembrance Day, and in recognition of the Royal Canadian Air Force Centennial this year, we sat down with a few of our esteemed veterans to hear firsthand why Lockheed Martin is their employer of choice after their distinguished service in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Continuing their mission beyond the uniform, these veterans are not only contributing to Canada’s legacy but also working alongside the RCAF to ensure the safety of Canadian skies—demonstrating that their impact doesn’t end with military service.

Gennifer: A Culture of Camaraderie

Gennifer, a Sustainment Strategy and Integration Lead at Lockheed Martin Canada, traces her career roots to high school, where her passion for leadership and service began. This spark grew through engineering studies at the Royal Military College and a career as an Air Navigator with the RCAF, a path deeply connected to her family’s legacy. “It seemed like the RCAF ran in our family,” she says.

At Lockheed Martin, Gennifer found more than just a new role—she found the same camaraderie, teamwork, and shared mission that defined her time in the RCAF.

The teamwork, challenges, and learning I experienced in the RCAF are things I still find here every day.

For Gennifer, the values that shaped her career—service, leadership, and purpose—continue to inspire her work at Lockheed Martin, where teamwork and mission remain at the core.

Jan: Thriving at Work and at Home

Jan, an Engineering Program Manager, began her career as an engineer in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), where she gained valuable skills in discipline, precision, and teamwork. She dedicated much of her time to her service. However, when her daughter turned three, she sought a career that would allow her to continue meaningful work in defense while having more time for her family.

On her quest to find the ideal work life balance, Jan found her role at Lockheed Martin, where she was offered the flexibility to thrive professionally without compromising family time. Here, she found a collaborative, supportive environment where work-life balance is a core part of the culture.

Every day, Jan is motivated knowing she can contribute to missions that matter at home and work.

Ray: From Service to Innovation

After a 23-year career as a pilot with the RCAF, Ray transitioned to a civilian role with Lockheed Martin, drawn by the company’s deep commitment to supporting the military and its mission. Lockheed Martin’s understanding of veterans' unique needs made the shift seamless, offering him the opportunity to continue contributing to Canada’s defense within a mission-focused, collaborative environment.
The passion Lockheed Martin employees have for supporting the Canadian military is what drew me to the company. I feel privileged to contribute to the important work we do for Canada.

At Lockheed Martin, Ray found a culture where diverse perspectives are valued and seen as essential to solving complex challenges. His military background continues to influence his approach to teamwork, preparation, and adaptability—qualities that align closely with the company’s culture of collaboration and innovation.

Ray takes pride in being part of an organization that not only values veterans but also empowers them to thrive and make a lasting impact. Ed: Adventure to Purpose

At 18, Ed joined the RCAF in search of adventure, unaware that it would shape his life for the next 33 years. What began as a journey for excitement evolved into a career that gave him purpose, discipline, and a deep sense of duty.

Ed began his career as a lost young man but ended his time in uniform with a profound sense of pride—one he was determined to carry forward as a civilian. Transitioning to Lockheed Martin felt like the perfect next step, as the company’s understanding and support for veterans allowed him to continue working in the military field, which he holds close to his heart.

Lockheed Martin was a company that inspired me because of the product they developed and my interactions with their team. More importantly, my role allows me to continue supporting the RCAF and contributing to mission success. The transition was almost seamless, as I was still working with so many people I already knew, with the same goals in mind.

Continuing the Mission Beyond Service

This Remembrance Day – and everyday – we honour those who have served. With a large veteran population world-wide, we understand the unique challenges and strengths that veterans bring.

At Lockheed Martin, we’ve built an inclusive culture that not only values military service but also provides the benefits, support, and opportunities veterans need to successfully transition from active duty to civilian life. Veterans are an integral part of our team, and we are proud to help them continue their mission.
