Aircrew Instructor

Edison Canizares is an Aircrew Instructor for the Sikorsky Training Academy in Jupiter, FL. Eddie’s primary goal is to provide exceptional training for Special Missions Aviators (SMA’s), Crew Chiefs and maintainers, ensuring Sikorsky continues to provide instruction designed to bring people home everywhere, every time.

Prior to joining Sikorsky, Eddie worked for Amentum AFM West in Kansas, where he performed duties on major maintenance tasks to include phase maintenance inspections as an aircraft mechanic and point of contact, on UH-60 A/L/M, HH-60L, CH-47F, and AH-64E helicopters for various customers to include National Guard and Active Army units. Eddie also served in the U.S. Army, where his responsibilities included, Aircraft Mechanic, Crew Chief, Unit Trainer (UT), Flight Instructor (FI), Standardization Instructor (SI), Master Gunner, Maintenance Supervisor, Platoon Sergeant, and Senior Drill Sergeant. Eddie logged nearly 2,000 mishap-free hours with over 1200 hours as FI/SI in UH-60 A/L/M, HH-60L, and HH-60M platforms. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operations Resolute Support, Enduring Freedom and Freedom’s Sentinel.

Eddie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Sciences from the Polytechnic Military College in Ecuador, and he is currently working on obtaining his degree in Professional Aviation Management from Kansas State University.
