Apprentices

An apprentice at Lockheed Martin UK will get hands-on experience at an innovative company that is driven by a sense of purpose and a passion for innovation to shape the future and solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. Working as part of a dynamic team, the focus is on providing smart solutions whilst creatively solving problems for our customers

Employees from a number of Lockheed Martin business areas provide guidance, technical knowledge and ongoing support for apprentices while they transition into the workplace. Our apprentice programme helps us attract and secure the workforce of tomorrow and is an important element of ensuring specialised skills and innovative capabilities are retained for the future.

How to Apply for an Apprenticeship 

We are looking for people who are keen to learn with an aspiration to work for Lockheed Martin. When applying for an Apprenticeship you will have to meet the minimum educational requirements of the course which will be detailed in the advert.

  • Upload your C.V and complete the required Coversheet and submit.
  • Your application is then assessed against academic criteria and checked to make sure it contains all required information.
  • If your application is then selected and successful, you will be invited to an assessment day or interview at one of our UK facilities.
  • The assessment day may include presentations from the business, interviews, tours, group activities and presenting.
  • If selected from the assessment day you will receive a written offer to join the Lockheed Martin team and your on boarding process will start from here.
  • To help keep you feel connected we will regularly update you with current early careers activities between the offer and your start date

Please note that the majority of the positions posted require HM Government security clearance, please refer to individual job specifications for requirements. Graduate Programme

Joining us as a Graduate you will get to be part of a great team working on exciting projects making a real difference from day one. You along with rest of your Early Careers cohort will follow our two-year carefully planned Graduate Programme cycle. When we see someone with real talent we move quickly to determine how you can shape your future with us and us with you.
  1. During your time we take you on a tour of our sites to give you a flavour of who we are.
  2. The purpose of this programme is to help you thrive in a business environment whether you choose a technical or leadership pathway, it is about maximising your individuality and individual capabilities.
  3. The start is about networking and getting to know the rest of your cohort and Lockheed Martin as a business at your Graduate Induction
  4. Getting to know your yourself is about us helping you to understand yourself better and others around you to enable you build better connections
  5. Managing yourself is equipping you with the skills to help manage your time, to help manage and priorities to allow you to get the best out of your day to achieve your goals and targets
  6. Getting yourself across enable you to better communicate with and influence others in the business to maximise the effectiveness of what you’re trying to say
  7. Innovation Day is an opportunity for you to solve real business challenges with innovative ideas using what you have learnt in the programme so far
  8. Graduation Event you will be presenting your innovative ideas to the Senior leadership team whilst most importantly celebrating your hard work and success

Internships

We offer two types of internship:

  • Summer placement – for which applicants need to be at university studying a relevant degree
  • One-year placement – for which applicants need to be studying a Sandwich degree course (with a year at work between university years)

Work Experience

To help support you in making your future career decisions, here at Lockheed Martin UK, we offer a work experience programme which will provide UK secondary school pupils aged 14-18 with a valuable insight into the world of work.

We aim to accommodate students from secondary schools local to our UK offices and facilities with up to two weeks (unpaid) working at the Havant, Whiteley, London and Ampthill locations.
